Blobs Version History and Release Notes

Bug reporting: techsupp@esglabs.com

Blobs for Windows 1.0 b2
released 12/03/2000

New Features:

None

Changes/Bug Fixes:

The AI code has been rewritten. All of the AI levels should function now,
though you might find that the levels are misleading. (IE, the 'OK' AI is
probably better than the 'Awesome' AI.) Part of this is due to missing
features in the AI code, and part is due to lack of testing.

Blobs for Windows 1.0 b1
released 9/24/2000

First publicly-released version of Blobs since the original Apple II version!

New Features:

Up to 4 players, any mix of AI or Human.
Two AI levels (see Known Issues)
Scoring and game end reporting (preliminary).
Movement help (preliminary; uses standard cursors).
Game board editing.

Known Issues

The "good" and "awesome" AI levels are no different from the "bad" AI level.
In general, the AI code is not yet finished.

The "AI is thinking" indicator does not function. The AI takes a second or
two to take its move, during which the game will not respond to clicks in the
game area (menus and such will still work).

There is no online help.

Save and Load Game may not work properly (they haven't been fully tested
since the AI was enabled). If you have any problems with Save/Load please
email.

The Board Edit mode doesn't properly handle adding a third or fourth player
to a game that originally had less than that many players. (It should make
you redo game setup or lock out Player 3/4 when appropriate.)

Upcoming Features

Themes for players and boards. See themes.txt for more information on making
these (I could use some!) and the Themes directory for sample graphics.
